The beauty of Naresuan University, Thailand

That was the first and yet great experience in visiting Naresuan University. The major purpose of the visit was for continuing the detail discussion in having the prospectus collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing, Naresuan University (FON NU) and School of Nursing, UGM (SON UGM).

April is the hottest month of the year in Thailand, however, under the direction of Dr. Poonsuk Hikaronaut, FON NU succeed in providing the very warm welcome for me.

In the morning, we had a great honor to meet the President of Naresuan University, Prof. Dr. Sujin Jinahyon. By meeting him, we hope that the MOU between NU and UGM in the university level is able be signed in the near future.

After that, we continued the discussion in the possibility of having some activities, like student exchange programs, staff mobility as well as the research collaboration. The MOA will be process in the Faculty level soon.

The next visit was then to the community health center. It was a great opportunity to see how leading the community services in Thailand. The Community health center that we visited was actually the 2nd rank in Thailand. No wonder that it looked great and well-managed. The Community health center was under the coordination of nurse practitioner and 6 other members who were very active in providing the care for the citizen. The referral system in Thailand have run very well, therefore, people are actively involved in the community health center and refer to the hospital if needed. In fact, Thailand has provided the Universal health Coverage for the citizen. The day was ended by having a great dinner. The restaurant was the place where the Princess used to have while she visited NU. The princess comes every year to pass the certificate for NU graduate. It is an honor for Thai to receive the certificate from the family member of the King.

The last day was actually the Songkran ceremony. The students as well as the Faculty member performing the respect of the older. That is one of the way they show the mission in cultural preservation.

That was my first visit in Naresuan University. Thank you so much for the assistance of Dr. Poonsuk Hikaranot that invited to come, we had lots of great discussion. Another thank to Ms. Ampha Kataphang who organized everything, very well-managed, we learned a lot from you. Also, Dr. Chanjat who also provided lots of advices and ideas. The last is for all the Faculty members that we cannot mention. Great to meet you there and hope to see you again, soon!
