We are 4th year students from School of Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada. On November 18th – 26th 2013 we had opportunity to student exchange and study educational visit to faculty of nursing Naresuan University, Thailand. It was the first time for School of Nursing Universitas Gadjah Mada sent students to Faculty of Nursing Naresuan University.
In there, we discussed about curriculum system with Dean and nursing student of Naresuan University. We had opportunity to looked around and saw LRC (Learning Resources Center). Such us, Neonatal, Pediatric, emergency room, simulation room, maternal and stock room. There are so many phantoms and we can see "simman", a phantom with high technology its about 7,000,000 bath. We had opportunity to attend the class for having a lecture with Naresuan University Student. The topic is about gynecology. After finished our class, we have to discuss about illegal abortion with the student. We also have a chance to learn about so many nursing skills and try some skills teach by Naresuan University teacher. We learn about organization, Naresuan University Hospital's Structure, Nursing Ward, Department of Nursing, In Patient and Out Patient.
We learn about elderly at Naresuan Hospital. We learn about how to assessment in elderly patient. We also try to do assessment, so we know how nurses in here use Gordon assessment to make diagnoses for patients.
When we visit Wang Tong Hospital, we learn about condition of the patient who visiting there, nursing system, health system, and emergency system. We also visit Bor-Thong, a community service. In there, we learn about Thailand Primary Health System. When we go to the community, we saw how Naresuan's Students participate in community and give education for them. So many culture of Thailand we learned in here. We visit Sukothai Mawatan Temple, the oldest capital city of Thailand. We learn about Thai in past period when we visit museum. We also went to the Temple that has the biggest Buddhist Statue.
We are very grateful to the President Naresuan University, Thailand for their kindness and their support while we were in Thailand. Special thanks to Associate Professor Dr.Poonsuk Hingkanont as Dean Faculty of Nursing, Assist Professor Dr.Yuwayong Juntarawijit that give us opportunity to observe nursing community, Assist Professor Dr.Chanjar Suntayakorn that give us opportunity to observe nursing community, hospital and overview of faculty, Dr.Thitiarpha Tangkawanich that give us opportunity to observe hospital and accompany us to attended the class, and do not forget to say thank you for Miss. Ampha Kathapang for the arrangement, helps, and everything that have done for us. We will never forget for all experiences, warm welcome and a wonderful time that we get in Thailand.
We also would like to thank staff of the Naresuan University Hospital, Wang Thong Hospital and Bar Thong Hospital who provides a lot of information during study visit. We also would like say thanks to nursing students of Naresuan University and St. Paul University for their friendship. Thank you for sharing and learning experiences, exchanging cultures and language. Finally from the student exchange and this study educational visit, we learned a lot from knowledge and experiences in Thailand. It was very memorable experiences in our live. Thank you very much.
